Youtube developers, according to network informants, have begun to integrate a new feature of popular video hosting. The system of «bookmarks» will considerably simplify the use of the service when viewing long video clips; allowing to immediately go to the necessary passage without tedious manual rewinding by a multitude of clicks on a time scale.
According to the leak; Youtube is already testing an interface with the function of splitting long videos into thematic chapters; whose names will be displayed as pop-up text on a time scale. In other words, the viewer will be able to quickly find the desired fragment with the help of «table of contents»; and check his interests.
Firstly, content authors will have to mark the chapters manually; pointing to the time line where the video reveals the subject. After that, according to insiders, this function will become automatic, but details about the technology are not disclosed. To sum up, the tags will be placed using an AI that will determine the type of content on the display.
Youtube mobile application version 15.14.33 includes the new feature; but is still available on single accounts and only for individual materials. Google representatives did not subsequently announce the date of the announcement of the «bookmarks» system.
