While Elon Musk just took control of Twitter a few days ago, the new CEO just announced major changes to moderation in his social network.

After signing the final agreement to acquire Twitter for $44 billion Thursday night, Elon Musk has already revealed how he intends to profoundly change Twitter’s performance. In the past, the billionaire has already made it clear that he wants to make Twitter a platform entirely dedicated to freedom of expression.

To achieve this goal, Elon Musk announced yesterday in a tweet the creation of a content board with “very diverse views.” No major content or re-accounting decision will be made “before this board meeting”, which would allow the social network to take more impartial sanctions.

Musk has never hidden his opinion on Twitter censorship. In fact, the billionaire has repeatedly estimated that the platform applies very strict moderation to Internet users’ posts.

That’s why one of his first decisions on the podium was the dismissal of Vijay Gad, the head of Tweet’s Legal, Policy and Trust Department, who made the final decision to remove the former US president.

The billionaire announced the reinstatement of all accounts that were permanently banned in recent years. We’ll also see some big changes in the future, like the ability for all users to ‘verify’ on Twitter, i.e. get a badge next to their name that proves it’s actually an official account.

Several changes are also expected in advertising on Twitter. Elon Musk has announced that he wants ads to be more personalized, so as not to spoil the experience for users of the platform. The billionaire also wants to put an end to fake accounts, but it remains to be seen how he intends to achieve this.
