Kaspersky conducted a recent survey study, aimed at measuring the extent to which Internet users are aware of digital threats and ways to deal with them.

The results of the study showed that 56% of users, believe that their personal data is not secure on the Internet, while more than a third (41%) do not use any security solution to protect themselves on the Internet, despite That experts urge all internet users to install a security solution, regardless of whether or not their data is considered safe.

When asked what kind of security solutions they use, 71% of respondents say they use free solutions. Although the original free security solutions are able to deal with a range of threats, its paid counterparts have more comprehensive capabilities to deal with emerging and sophisticated digital attacks.

The most important finding of this survey is that most users are aware that their data is not safe on the Internet, and that they use different techniques to protect themselves, as 71% indicated that they use complex passwords, while 44% use anti-virus software, and 43% use the two-factor authentication method to access their electronic accounts, But they are not guaranteed to be safe from all digital threats despite having resorted to some measures to protect themselves on the Internet.

Kaspersky experts see a promising hope that a large proportion of the study participants are aware of what to do, but they saw scope to improve data security, providing some advice in this aspect:

1-Keep vigilant:

It is necessary to avoid clicking on suspicious links, refrain from opening attachments in a suspicious email, as well as avoid responding to unsolicited emails, adding strangers to social media, etc.

2-Keeping the operating system and applications updated:

Maintaining OS updates is not only about making sure you take advantage of changes in the user interface, it is also about fixing critical system vulnerabilities. These updates are necessary to successfully combat known vulnerabilities and malware.

3-Data backup:

Creating a backup is a critical step in ensuring that data is protected in the event of system failure or file corruption due to an online attack.

4-Use appropriate digital security solutions:

The use of security solutions is crucial in today’s world. Cybercriminals are using no means to come up with new ways to hack devices, making a robust security solution necessary to help make use of the Internet safely and without worrying about cyber crime.
